The process of making Sasirangan involves first stitching patterns onto the fabric, then pulling the threads tightly to gather the material before tying it securely. Afterward, the fabric is dyed—either with synthetic or natural dyes—highlighting the running stitches and specific areas as needed. Once the stitching is removed after washing, a unique pattern emerges.

Sasirangan fabric is typically characterized by geometric patterns or motifs inspired by nature, such as flora and fauna. In Kotabaru Regency, a distinctive feature of Sasirangan is the presence of swordfish (Ikan Todak) motifs and other marine life patterns.
